Looking for some great hidden gems in Hungary?
I have a great list for you with some of the best hidden gems in Hungary!
What comes to your mind when thinking of Hungary? Budapest, thermal resorts, vineyards, nature, a rich cultural heritage? Yes, all very true. I had the pleasure of visiting Hungary numerous times while I lived in the neighboring country Czech Republic.
In a different blog, I compared Prague vs Budapest.
But to me, Hungary is a country full of surprises. If you’re looking for some more inspiration, here are ten hidden gems in Hungary.
What is Hungary most known for?
Hungary is renowned for having a rich cultural past that has been influenced by many different factors over the years. Celtic, Roman, and later Magyar tribes, as well as the mighty Austro-Hungarian Empire, have all left their marks on the nation’s distinctive history.
Buda Castle, Fisherman’s Bastion, and the Hungarian Parliament building are just a few of the famous architectural wonders in Budapest, Hungary’s capital city, which is often known as the “Paris of the East” for its beauty in architecture.
The Gellért and Széchenyi baths are among the most famous of the city’s thermal baths, which are another claim to fame.
Hungary also has a thriving cultural scene that features a long history of music, dance, and visual arts. The Hungarian National Opera House is known for its opera and ballet performances, while groups like the Hungarian State Folk Ensemble continue to popularize the nation’s traditional music and dance traditions.
